Class 8 Chapter 12 Friction

Introduction

  • Moving objects like a rolling ball or swinging bob of a pendulum slows down slowly and come to rest after some time. This happens because of a force exerted in the opposite direction of the motion of the objects.
  • Friction is a contact force acting in the opposite direction of the applied force.
  • Friction resists the relative motion of objects that are in contact.
  • Friction acts between the two surfaces that are in contact.
